Greetings Local 372 School Crossing Guards,
Happy New Year to you and to your families.
I have some good news for you. As you all are aware, the District Council 37 Economic Agreement was settled last year. During several School Crossing Guards Chapter Meetings and various other union meetings, we heard your Level II colleagues express to us that there wasn’t a major difference between the Level I School Crossing Guards’ hourly rate and their own hourly rate.
We heard you, we scheduled meetings, we strategized and now we have an agreement with the City of New York.
Effective May 26, 2023, the hourly rate for the title School Crossing Guard Level II will be $20 an hour. Yes, you heard me correctly, the hourly rate is retroactive back to May 26, 2023. Local 372 is currently working on the dates for the payout of these funds. We know things don’t always happen as quickly as we would like, but we can assure you that we will roll up our sleeves and get to work until they happen.
